The Mediterranean Diet is a plan composed of a consortium or traditional cuisines from Spain, France, Italy, Greece and parts of the Middle East that have been used for centuries.

Though the diet may differ from each region, the common dietary characteristics are: high intake of fruits, vegetables, bread and other cereals, potatoes, beans, nuts and seeds; olive is essential as a monounsaturated fat source; dairy products, fish and poultry are consumed in low to moderate quantities and a small amount of meat is taken.

This diet also includes a food pyramid unlike the customary type of food pyramid people are used to.  Regular physical activity too is a must.

“So far it is going very well, thank you. Today is the last day of my first week and so far I have lost 3.5 lbs. Although this is my husband’s email address I am the one who went for the new diet. My name is Sarah. My husband has been eating some of the foods with me last week (like breakfast and dinners) but this week he is committing to going on the diet complete. I think the loss of pounds for me and the great taste of the food has been a motivator for him. So far so good. Looking to lose more this next week.”

” I’ve lost 11 lbs, thus far( I started late, so I’m a week behind. I fell of the track once, but I’m back on. I haven’t had this much energy or lost this much weight in a long time. After freshman year of college, I thought I’d never lose the 30lbs I gained, but I’m on my way. I never feel hungry on this diet, and it’s very convenient. I think I can stick with this, even after
the planned weeks are over. Thank You.”
